An unsung hero in the garden, star jasmine is a vigorous, woody climber about 9m in height, with twining stems, glossy dark green, oval leaves to 10cm in length, often turning deep bronze-red in winter, and clusters of very fragrant, white flowers 2.5cm in width produced in mid to late summer. Ideal for city and courtyard gardens, coastal, cottage and informal gardens, and even patios and containers, star jasmine is low maintenance, largely unbothered by pest and diseases, and will grow well in fertile well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade.
