The Infamous Worsbrough Incline by Dave Cherry and Tony Hulson A film about one of the steepest inclines in Europe by the Barnsley film maker Dave Cherry and Tony Hulson. The line was opened in 1880 and it closed in 1981. Using archive film and modern drone footage the video traces the 14 mile section from Aldham Junction through Worsbrough up the incline to Penistone. A giant locomotive called the Bayer Garratt was built in 1925 to shove the coal trains up the incline some 27 times a day. Tracing the history of the railway it tells of the many pit disasters, that were alongside the line and the story of the 1991 manhunt for the killer Michael Sams when ransom money was dropped down a bridge near Oxspring.
