Sixty years ago I was a seventeen year old soldier away from home for the first time, and I thought, in love for the first time. The poem "Wild Red Roses of Desire" was written by an innocent heart, as yet, untouched by war. I present to you here the genesis of that poem, the song, "Wild Roses."
