57 - Designing a Simple Transistor Amplifier
Nick M0NTV walks through the considerations and calculations for designing your own simple transistor amplifier. Includes easy maths, clear explanations and practical advice. If you have ever thought about having a go yourself then hopefully this might help you on your way! This is part 1 which covers exclusively the DC Biasing of the amplifier. Part 2 will go on to tackle the Small Signal AC Analysis. My handwritten notes produced live in the video can be downloaded here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-Cow... *** PLEASE NOTE: Apologies that my polarised electrolytic output capacitor is round the wrong way. Thank you to the two eagle-eyed viewers who spotted this. The anode (positive) end should be connected to the collector and the cathode (negative) end to the load. This is because the anode should be more positively biased than the cathode. Damage can occur to the cap (like spontaneous self-disassembly!) if this is ignored. I've obviously been lucky so far but I'm going to swap it round. Hope you find this helpful. 73, Nick M0NTV
