Escape From Tarkov was a game that was doomed to failure from the very beginning in its original form. That's why the developers lied, rewrote the project practically from scratch, changed the gameplay and monetization system, and now they're starting to call the unfinished product the final work. But to understand the full story, we have to go back in time. More specifically, to April 2024. Around that time, my first piece about Tarkov was released, and it received a lot of attention, especially considering the scale of my channel at the time. I described the game's problems, which were related to the changes made to the monetization mechanisms. Things have changed a bit since then, and for the worse… But let me briefly introduce you. Tarkov is a realistic first-person shooter with elements of a multiplayer RPG. I assume that if you've read this article, you know what I'm talking about. If not, I'll briefly add that it's a very demanding, realistic, and difficult game to learn. I'd even say that the learning curve is much steeper in places than in the recently reviewed PoE, which I called one of the hardest RPGs ever, because the penalties for death are significantly higher at the base, and the game forces us into constant confrontations with players and half-hearted opponents. For about a year, Tarkov has had a multitude of problems. These range from weak updates to the gradual implementation and encouragement of Pay2Win mechanics, where the smallest set of upgrades costs a few hundred zlotys. Along the way, it borders on lies from the developers, deliberately disrupting gameplay balance, and distorting old promises. But when we get to the heart of the matter, it turns out that these statements from the developers weren't even entirely lies. They were promises that could never be fulfilled. Promises made by a studio too naive to realize that their dream game was impossible to create.
