🔥 Fire Academy Recruit Class 53 | Episode 1 | Weeks 1-2 “Limits”

For the first time Hawaii Fire Department will open it's doors for all of you to see what it takes to be a firefighter on Hawaii Island. Recruit class is no joke and being able to embrace the hardships, work together and become a well-oiled machine is what these training officers look forward to seeing these men be at the end of this year-long training. Orientation: Night before the 1st Day, recruits bring their families to which the Chiefs Welcome as well as remind them that this is no ordinary job, time away from families, studying and recovery is what they need for this year long challenge for the ultimate job. *Some miscommunication led half of the class to meet elsewhere for orientation night and late for the meeting, at the end they ended up with the class pushups and a little positive reinforcement to end the night Week 1: Class 53 undergoes time trials in both land and swimming based PT. These times represent base lines for our Recruit Training Officers to see weaknesses, strengths and areas that need improvement both in the classroom and physical activity. Week 2: Class 53 Hits the ground running through Fire Essentials Textbooks and skill work that every recruit will be tested on and have to pass in order to stay in the recruit class. If any failures occur more that a set amount in both physical and classwork tests, the recruit will be escorted and dismissed from the class with a list of others on the waiting list in dire need to get a shot at this career.
