Y’s Guys welcomed Christian Rasband, BYU Alumni Chapter Chair for the Orlando area, along with his father, Ronald A. Rasband of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints’ Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, as BYU returns to Florida for the Pop-Tarts Bowl. Christian outlined the massive alumni effort underway in Orlando, where BYU fans will gather just steps from the stadium at Jones High School for a tailgate expected to draw 3,000+ Cougars — all organized in just a few short weeks. He emphasized BYU’s philosophy of a “party with a purpose,” combining celebration with meaningful service. That purpose takes the form of a major service project benefiting Catholic Charities, supported by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Christian explained that the project will distribute 1,000 hygiene kits, 40,000 pounds of food, and aims to add another 10,000 pounds through fan donations at the tailgate. Dave and Blaine praised the long-standing relationship between the Church and Catholic Charities in Central Florida, noting how BYU consistently leaves host cities better than it found them. Elder Rasband reflected on how unexpectedly meaningful his involvement with BYU Athletics has become through his role on the Board of Trustees. He shared two favorite pregame messages he’s delivered to BYU teams — one centered on “What e’er thou art, act well thy part,” and another urging players not just to use their talents, but to multiply them. He spoke candidly about the modern college sports landscape, stressing that even amid NIL and the transfer portal, BYU’s mission must always remain central: developing student-athletes of faith, character, and service. The conversation blended insight with warmth as the two shared family stories, including backyard football, snowmobiling memories, and the joy of multiple generations cheering for BYU together. The interview closed with three keys to a BYU win over Georgia Tech: lean on LJ Martin and the run game, win the turnover battle, and play with the same unified excellence BYU showed in last year’s Alamo Bowl. It was a fitting, heartfelt segment highlighting service, family, faith, and football — all core pillars of the BYU experience. #BYUFootball #GoCougs #Ysguys #PopTartsBowl #CougarNation #BYUAlumni #ServiceProject #CollegeFootball #BYUSports #HolidayShow #LDS #BYU Timestamps (approximate): 00:00 – Welcoming Christian & Elder Ronald A.
