Hello, this is Onodera and his wife 🌰. Today is the Utsuwa times! We would like to share with you how we visited the first day of the Kasama Pottery Festival yesterday! The Kasama Tohen Festival is a pottery fair held from April 29 (Tuesday, national holiday) to May 5 (Monday, national holiday) in the Kasama Art Forest Park in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture. The name “Kasama Tohen Festival” is written as “Kasama no Himatsuri” (meaning “festival of fire” in Japanese). This is an annual event where about 200 potteries gather in one place. I went to Kasama this year for a slight change of pace from Mashiko, which I visited twice in the past! As usual, I researched the artists I was interested in beforehand. The market is held in a park, so we didn't have to worry about cars passing by, and most importantly, the abundance of greenery around us made the space very pleasant.
