A group of citizens, tired of the corruption and extortion carried out by traffic and police personnel in Veracruz, are taking action and defending drivers who are prey to these bad actors. During their tour of the streets of Acayucan, they noticed a traffic officer on a motorcycle, detaining a Nissan pickup truck. When the group of activists arrived, the officer quickly got on his motorcycle and tried to flee, giving clear signs that he was doing something wrong. When they questioned the detained driver, the incident confirmed their suspicions. The traffic officer had demanded $1,500 pesos in extortion, after claiming he had run a red light. By then, the Transit Authority had the money in his possession, so he tried to leave quickly. However, he didn't realize that activists from the Veracruz Southern Region Resistance would advise him and support him in recovering the full amount.
