Kazakhstanis' fines are being forgiven. Starting today, citizens are receiving letters saying "We inform you that you have been released from administrative punishment." It should be noted that after the head of state signed the new law, an administrative amnesty was introduced for the first time in the history of Kazakhstan. As a result, administrative fines of more than 500 thousand citizens totaling more than 17 billion tenge will be written off. My colleague Damir Nurmukhamet, whose fines were forgiven just a few hours ago, will discuss the topic. According to the new law, only a part of unpaid fines will be forgiven. If no one was injured as a result of the offense or the damage caused is fully compensated, those who committed minor and medium-serious crimes will also be exempted from liability. For this, there is no need to go to a certain institution, write an application and collect documents. Everything will be done automatically. DAMIR NURMUKHAMET, correspondent: Here, this message has already reached me. So, the new law has begun to be implemented not only on paper, but also in practice. About half a million more citizens will receive such a notification in the future. If their fine meets the requirements of the amnesty, their debt will be automatically written off in the same way. But if the offense is repeated, there is no forgiveness. This relief is not for everyone. If a driver is driving under the influence of alcohol, driving in the wrong lane, or violating the law on weapons or drugs, no one will exonerate the guilty. Also, those involved in particularly serious crimes such as corruption, terrorism, extremism, torture, murder, and sexual violence will not be subject to amnesty. In general, the amnesty will apply only to about 1 million fines issued by internal affairs bodies. YERMEK SHULDEN, Deputy Head of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan: According to the law, criminal amnesty applies to criminal misdemeanors, less serious crimes, and crimes of medium gravity for which the damage caused has been fully compensated. Administrative amnesty applies only to administrative fines. In addition, Articles 3 and 8 of the law indicate a specific list of offenses to which amnesty does not apply. In addition, some convicts who committed crimes that are not particularly dangerous to society will also be granted amnesty. Public activists also welcomed this decision. They say that a person who has been granted amnesty once can be trusted not to commit a crime again. SYMBAT SATARKYZY, public activist: People end up in prison in different ways. Among them are those who have suffered injustice. They should be granted amnesty. If they are granted amnesty once, they will not repeat the crime in the future. I think it is better to give them a chance Amnesty is an opportunity. Amnesty is a first not only in the history of independent Kazakhstan, but even among the CIS countries. #Informbureau #31arna #MainNews #News #31channel
