IN THIS VIDEO WE EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED TO TOSHIBA. TODAY, TOSHIBA IS A SHADOW OF ITS FORMER SELF. CURRENTLY, THEY STAY ABOARD THROUGH TWO MAIN SECTORS, INCLUDING THE MEMORY BUSINESS AND THE INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT BUSINESS. TOSHIBA WAS ACTUALLY THE PIONEER OF FLASH MEMORY IN THE 1980s, BUT THEY HAVE LOST A SIGNIFICANT MARKET SHARE TO SAMSUNG IN THE LAST DECADE. To make matters worse, Toshiba sold its flash memory unit to save the rest of its business in 2018. They made $18 billion from the sale, but honestly, I think they gave up their last hope with it. After all, the entire Toshiba company is only worth $19 billion now. Considering all these difficulties, I don't think it will surprise you much to hear that Toshiba executives resorted to falsifying their numbers. In the years leading up to 2015, Toshiba had overstated its operating profits by $1.2 billion. As you might imagine, this was followed by the CEO's resignation and a crushing blow to investor confidence. Looking ahead, Toshiba doesn't have much going for it. The majority of its business is simply selling industrial electronics, but it doesn't appear that Toshiba is innovating much there either. So, it was only a matter of time before a competitor overtook this industry in the same way. TOSHIBA STILL EMPLOYED 117,300 PEOPLE, BUT TOSHIBA COULD NOT BE SUSTAINED FOREVER JUST TO MAINTAIN JOBS. And despite Toshiba reducing its workforce by 100,000 people in the last decade, the effort wasn't enough. Burdened with debt and low sales, it agreed to be bought out in March 2023 by a group of 20 companies led by Japan Industrial Partners. On December 22, 2023, it was delisted, thus closing the chapter on a historic company that left its mark on many sectors but was managed unethically and unwisely. But that's just my opinion.
