Saturday, December 9, 1972 Thanks to a late goal from Patrick Revelli (no sound in the video), Saint-Étienne secured a victory at the Stade Saint-Symphorien against Metz, who were tied for first place in the standings before the match. It was a very exciting match, full of chances, shots off the post, and excellent players: Curkovic, Larqué, and Bereta for Saint-Étienne, and former Lyon player Nestor Combin for Metz. Saint-Étienne opened the scoring through Patrick Parizon, and Metz equalized immediately after the restart. Following their last-gasp victory, Saint-Étienne moved up to 5th place.
