Petrification # 75 - Boy into Gold Statue

Percy sits on a Solid Gold Throne at an abandoned amusement park, to help Annabeth fulfill a quest, whereby if the quest at that site gets fulfilled, a shield will drop from the gold figure standing behind the gold throne which will allow Annabeth to be crowned with the highest honor as a Queen, but to fulfill the quest and obtain the Shield which Annabeth needs and which the artifact holds, Percy must sit on the chair and endure the consequences of the chair's effect, which is to become a gold statue. So, he sits on it for her sake so she can obtain the shield, and Percy turns into a gold statue. Vulcan, the god of fire tells Annabeth to climb the ladder he offered her and leave the site to obtain the highest honor that she can now achieve, with that shield that dropped when the boy became a gold statue. But, Annabeth doesn't want Percy to remain a gold statue forever just because of her desire to become a Queen..... because she has feelings for Percy. So she rescinds the quest and pleads for Vulcan, the god of fire, to restore him to life. Through all that, Annabeth had set out to try to figure out the gold throne's mechanism which made Percy endure the gold petrification, and seeing how Vulcan saw that the two were faithful to each other, he admired that. So, he ultimately allowed the golden curse to be lifted, and suddenly, the gold began seeping back into the solid gold throne once again, freeing Percy from his gold statue existence.
