This one is so fun! We have been blessed to see some crazy sets of antlers the last 10 years. It is one of the more interesting parts of our whole experience, and we look forward to finding more “junk”. Before my story on this video, a slight correction. At 2:32 seconds, the caption reads 2024 Left Hook, the correction is 2023 Left Hook (2023 was the last time we saw him). Libby’s narration will tell most of the story, I want to talk about the brief encounter with Walter (starts at 3:00 minutes). It is one I will never forget. It was early. It was almost pitch black, well before dawn. Still photographs were nonexistent. It was way too dark. I hit “record” and began capturing 4K footage. I was in awe as I filmed him. The combination of the mystery of the dark and his crazy antlers got the best of me. I was all in. Fortunately, we are able to pull up the lighting in video production. The Nikon Z9 did an amazing job capturing the footage in near dark conditions. Just when I figured out some shooting angles, Walter was gone, he vanished into the darkness and we have never seen him again. But we have this one fantastic encounter to revisit again and again. I hope my story about him makes that part of the video more enlightening. By the way, Walter is named after the big trout caught by Billy (Norman’s grandson) in the movie “On Golden Pond”.
