New Rig Road Trip Ready
New Rig...Roadtrip Ready! There's a great story behind it too. Two things I had to do this summer in Wisconsin. First, it was time for a new rig. My old rig, a 2000 Ford 7.3 Diesel Ambulance has seen better days. I wanted a school bus but finding the right one turned out to be harder than I thought. I enlisted the help of an old friend. In the end I bought a 1999 Freightliner Fire Rescue Truck. With only 14 thousand miles on it...feels like a new truck. Learned a lot this summer about hard work to reach a goal and manifestation. No it wasn't easy. Secondly I have wanted to do something for long time listeners and to The Bob Davis Podcasts both here in YouTube and the audio version wherever you get your podcasts. So from August 2025 the audio version of the podcasts is now a non profit. That means donations are fully tax deductible. I will have to follow some guidelines so the roll out on the nonprofit will be discussed in future podcasts. Details in this video. In reality getting the truck, getting it licensed, and ready for Roadtrips turned out to be more of a challenge than I expected. First of all the new Unit 11 required a CDL to drive. Secondly getting it titled and licensed as a noncommercial truck was also a challenge. One of the things discussed in this video is the fact that to actually get your build classified as an RV requires actions I did not want to take. Furthermore I did not want an RV. I'll explain why in this video. Once all that was done I had to move on to scheduling craftsmen for the inside of the truck and for additional elements like Solar. In Rural Western Wisconsin. most of this turned out to be a challenge. Again details in this video. Finally this is a channel about travel. And the people who watch The Bob Davis Podcasts on YouTube are interested in the joy and enlightenment of travel. Therefore one of the biggest challenges was getting everything done. In the end I had to get up early and make sure I did something significant toward my goals everyday. Certainly top of mind was the weather changes. On a personal note I was reminded again of how incredible Fall is in Northwestern Wisconsin and places similarly located in the northern tier of the US. But the weather was getting colder and colder and I was camping on the lakeshore working hard to get everything done. Now I am ready for road trips and we'll discuss in this video. Thanks for watching and listening. Here’s a link to the audio version of this podcast. https://thebobdavispodcasts.com/new-r...
