SEPAK TERJANG DARGA GALLERY PAMERKAN KARYA SENI KELAS DUNIA!

A new chapter in Jais Darga's life began with the opening of Darga Gallery in Bali, which shook the art world. Jais was no slouch; he boldly brought in works by masters like Picasso, Renoir, Chagall, Matisse, and many others to exhibit. "From a commercial perspective, bringing their works from abroad is actually fraught with risks. There are taxes, insurance, and the trust of many people. But with that exhibition, I wanted to show that Indonesian painting is extraordinary and should not be ashamed to compete with works from abroad," said Jais. Darga Gallery then became a major figure in the Indonesian art scene. Big names like Basquiat and Ida Bagus Made Poleng, who were known for never coming to galleries, were able to attend. "For me, the arrival of the maestro Ida Bagus Made was an achievement," he recalled. This journey was full of dynamics. All of this was documented in the book Jais Darga Namaku (2018). Fragments from this book were also filmed by director Kamila Andini under the title Before, Now, and Then (2022). It's fair to say that after wandering the visual arts scene, Jais reconnected with the world of acting. So, why did he come back?
