Blindado Brasileiro VBTP-MR Guarani 6x6 | Brazilian Armored Personnel Carrier "VBTP-MR" Guarani 6x6

The APC is 6x6 amphibious armoured personnel carrier (APC), now in production for the Brazilian Army under the name of ‘Guarani’ ,the Guarani is Brazilian Army's most important modernisation project in the short-term. The 6x6 Viatura Blindada de Transporte de Tropas - Média sobre Rodas (VBTP-MR) or Wheeled Medium APC (Basic Platform) will be the backbone of the country's future mechanised capability alongside the Leopard 1A5 MBT. The VBTP has a hull of all-welded steel with appliqué armour for a higher level of protection, and is normally armed with a remote weapon Kastation mounting a 30mm cannon and 7.62mm coaxial machine gun. To reduce life-cycle costs, the VBTP uses proven commercial off-the- shelf sub-systems, including an Iveco FPT 9-litre 338hp diesel engine coupled to an automatic transmission and transfer box. The VBTP is fully amphibious, being propelled in the water by two propellers mounted one either side at the rear. The company is working on an 8x8 version with a +105mm gun as a replacement for the EE-9 Cascavel armoured cars used by the Brazilian Army.
