ELOISE - THE DAMNED - THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL VINYL LP - 1986

"Eloise" by The Damned is a gothic rock cover of the 1968 baroque pop song originally written by Paul Ryan and performed by his twin brother, Barry Ryan. Released as a standalone single on 27 January 1986, the track became the highest-charting single of the band's career, peaking at No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart and earning them a silver certification. Long-Held Ambition: In the band's first-ever interview in 1976, they stated they wanted to cover "Eloise". It took them exactly 10 years to finally record and release it. The "Schizophrenic" Vocal: Frontman Dave Vanian had sung the track in his head for years. In the studio, he used a "schizophrenic" vocal style, singing the verses like a frantic madman before dropping into a lush, romantic tone for the bridge. The Original Artist's Approval: Barry Ryan publicly praised the cover, stating on British morning television that he actually preferred The Damned's high-energy version over his own original recording. Album Status: The track was not originally included on a standard studio album, though it was recorded shortly after the band's successful goth-era album Phantasmagoria. It was later added as a bonus track on international reissues of that album and appears on various compilations. B-Side: The 7" vinyl single featured the track "Temptation" on the B-side, which was written collectively by the band. Extended Formats: The single was pushed heavily in the UK with two distinct 12" vinyl mixes. These included a sprawling 9-and-a-half-minute "Extravagant Mix" and a shorter "No Sleep Until Wednesday Mix" *Give a Thumbs Up 👍🏻 If You Enjoy The Video 👍🏻* **And Please Subscribe To My Channel @Papa_Bear_Beats For FREE! ❤️💬🔔 and Don't Forget to Leave a Comment ** **My Other YouTube Channels are    / @scootermandanny   And    / @mrcaintv   *Thank You 👍🏻*
