LifeStraw Peak Series vs. Always Ants "gear hack" gravity filters 1L speed test - Always Ants

Join me in camp along the lower Deschutes River in Oregon in June 2026 to compare the 1-liter fill time for the 3-liter LifeStraw Peak Series, versus a self-made gravity filter setup using a Platypus 3-liter water bag and a Sawyer Mini filter. See more about my homemade setup here:    • Gear "hack": Sawyer + Platypus + Lifestraw...   If you don't want to watch, I'll tell you-- the LifeStraw is ten seconds faster filling one liter. That's 37 seconds per gallon, a minor difference. The bigger difference is the ease in purging or backflushing the filters. The Sawyer is fast and easy taking two steps, while the LifeStraw takes a whole series of steps. Thus, the Always Ants "gear hack" is technically faster, and as it uses a 1-micron filter versus the LifeStraw 2-micron filter, it removes just a bit more nasties.
