배달 배차 알고리즘 알고보니 이렇게 작동했다

Haven't you ever wondered why the harder you work, the more "bad" calls you get, or why you get hit with calls immediately after rejecting a few? The experience of having calls suddenly cut off with only one mission left, only to be hit with a triple payout the moment the mission ends. The desperate situation where you get hit with calls for an hour or two that very day after rejecting a few low-paying offers. Anyone who has been delivering for a long time has likely experienced these situations, but they are absolutely not just luck. They are the result of algorithms learning all your past behaviors and classifying you into specific grades. From the delivery platform's perspective, the goal is to get riders to complete more deliveries at a lower cost. Since riders continue to deliver even when rates are lowered, the platform keeps lowering them as if testing how low they can go, and the algorithm is the very basis for this. The more low rates we accept, the more data the platform accumulates to justify lowering rates even further. What is important here are the two key criteria the algorithm uses to evaluate us. The first is app loyalty. The criteria are based on which rate calls you accept and how long you keep the app open. If you consistently accept low-rate calls, the algorithm learns that you are good at taking cheap rides, and the longer you keep the app open, the more it recognizes you as a rider who will come out whenever called. The sudden drop in calls when you have only one mission left is also part of this structure. Since they have to pay a mission fee if you succeed, they prevent you from completing it within the time limit, ensuring that your loyalty is fully extracted by then. The second factor is delivery quality. The longer you endure the cooking wait, the more you are classified as a rider who waits patiently, and factors such as delivery speed and pickup location influence the total delivery time, determining your quality score. There is a key point here that you absolutely must not miss. The algorithm is not a human. It has no emotions or grudges; it classifies based solely on incoming signals. This is both frightening and simultaneously the greatest opportunity. This is because simply changing the signal changes the classification results. If you are afraid of the call company after rejecting a low-rate call, that fear is precisely the psychological warfare the algorithm is playing on you. However, if you send consistent signals, they will inevitably respond accordingly. If you refuse one day and give in the next, you will eventually be reclassified as a recipient, and that one hour will reset all the signals you have built up over the past few days. The key is consistency. This is called the Tit-for-Tat strategy in game theory. You accept a good call when the algorithm gives you one, refuse a bad one, and accept another good call when it comes in. There is no need to overthink it; you simply need to repay the algorithm exactly as much as it has done. It is important to set your own minimum price standard and firmly refuse anything below that, but it is crucial to establish standards that suit your specific situation, whether in Seoul or in the provinces. Regarding app usage, switching between Baemin and Coupang is advantageous in terms of both loyalty and delivery quality, rather than keeping one app open for a long time. To earn extra points for delivery quality, it is important to be located in a central area with high delivery volume and to plan your route efficiently to maintain a consistent average delivery time. It is about the route, not the speed. It is difficult to change the overall market price on your own. However, you can design the rating that the algorithm sees of you. I hope you become a rider who proactively designs your signals, rather than a rider who is victimized by the algorithm. I hope this video helps you establish clear standards.
