She indulges in rich foods and beverages, all while chastising the author for his modest order of mutton. The story is divided into three parts: Part I (Present): The narrator and the lady reunite after twenty years. Part II (20 years later): The author recalls the luncheon from their previous meeting. Part III (Present): The lady, who once ate light lunches, now weighs nearly 295 pounds.
