Mendoza Chico - Florida

The town took its name from the Mendoza stream, which flows through the area from east to west. This stream, in turn, was named after the owner of the salting plant that was established in the mid-1800s in quarries located near its banks. The purpose of this town and the neighboring Mendoza Grande was to provide services to the local inhabitants dedicated to cattle ranching and agriculture, and the area has since become known as a grain-producing region.
