Gotthardpass - Switzerland - easy Roadster Drive - BMW Z4 e85

The Gotthard Pass—and the approach to it from the north heading toward Italy—is truly spectacular; the series of galleries carved into the rock, spiraling ever higher, makes the drive worthwhile in itself. This pass is of great significance to Switzerland and forms the heart of the country; there is a wealth of history to discover here. Even Goethe visited and spent time in the area. Upon reaching the summit, the landscape suddenly opens up into a magnificent high valley; however, the southward descent is somewhat lackluster—at least along the modern route. Of course, the old route—the cobblestone Tremola road—still exists, too. ;) Enjoy the drive; this pass is significant primarily as a transit route rather than for its technical driving challenges. ------------------------- Der Gotthardpass und schon seine anfahrt von Norden richtung Italien sind schon spektakulär, alleine die ganzen Gallerien die sich in den Fels gehauen immer weiter nach oben schrauben sind eine fahrt wert. Dieser Pass ist für die Schweiz sehr bedeutend und bildet das Herz des Landes, hier gibt es viel Geschichtliches zu erfahren. Selbst Göthe war schon hier gewesen und hat hier verweilt. Oben angekommen öffnet sich plötzlich ein regelrechtes Hochtal mit toller Landschaft, gen Süden geht der Pass allerdings dann eher etwas schöde weiter, zumindest in seinem neuen Verlauf, der alte Streckenverlauf, die Pflastersteinstraße Tremola gibt es ja auch noch ;) Viel Spaß beim eher Transitlastigen Pass mit großer Bedeutung als mit dem Fahrerischen kniff.
