Welcome to Poland! Crossing the border and starting a brand new chapter of our grand odyssey! 🚗💨 The fifth leg of our journey takes us onto the legendary DK19 highway — a vital artery of the future international "Via Carpatia" route. Leaving Slovakia behind, we make our way from Barwinek to Rogi through the picturesque and historic Dukla Valley (Dolina Dukielska). Awaiting us is a date with the old town of Dukla, where the magnificent *18th-century Mniszech Palace *once hosted royalty. Early September in the Subcarpathian region is a beautiful time when nature is still filled with lush, vibrant summer greenery, but the morning air already brings the pleasant crispness of the velvet season. A light, refreshing September rain and the warm rhythms of Polish folk music create a special mood. Notice how quickly the road signs, pavement markings, and the overall style of roadside infrastructure change. The adventure continues! 02:13 🛣️ Start: Barwinek (Road DK19) The very first settlement on the Polish side. Once a massive, exhausting customs bottleneck with endless lines, it is now a free, smooth, and open gateway into the heart of the country. 04:46 🏡 Tylawa Gliding through a quiet village in the valley of the Panna River. Back in 1944, heavy combat took place here, but today this corner of the Low Beskids welcomes us with absolute pastoral serenity. 09:41 🏘️ Trzciana Look at the landscape: we are driving past the forested slopes of Mount Celigów. The starting rain adds a truly mystical, deep atmosphere to these untouched Polish woodlands. 11:56 🏡 Nowa Wieś Classic Subcarpathian architecture. Notice how closely the neat houses sit to the asphalt — it creates that uniquely cozy, tight road mood of the European countryside. 13:40 🏘️ Lipowica We cruise along the majestic Mount Lipowica. Few know that within these rugged cliffs hide some of the deepest non-karst caves in the entire Low Beskids region. Nature hides its secrets right by the highway. 15:24 🏰 Dukla Entering the old center of the region. Look to your right: somewhere there, behind the veil of rain, lies the famous Mniszech Palace from the 18th century. For centuries, this town was the key to the entire pass. 17:35 🏡 Zboiska A small settlement whose name translates from Old Polish as a "military gathering place." It is amazing how deeply military history is woven into every single name on our map. 18:59 🏘️ Cergowa Look at the horizon to the right: the peak of Mount Cergowa (716 m) emerges through the clouds with its iconic triple peak. This is the most recognizable and legendary silhouette of these places. 22:43 🏡 Równe Continuing our smooth descent from the mountains. The hills gradually step back, and the Dukla Valley widens, opening up views of the endless, well-kept farmlands of Subcarpathia. 26:21 🏁 Finish: Rogi This rainy stage is successfully completed!
