DEI in Science: More Than Just a Buzzword (The Future of Discovery!)

Have you ever wondered why is DEI relevant to science? I know I have heard others ask this question so I asked it to an expert! In this video Dr. Mahadeo Sukhai provides three examples of why considering DEI in scientific research actually makes the science better; by asking better questions, and improving data collection and analysis. If you have a homogeneous research staff it won't provide a wide breath of knowledge and experiences which will enable better research to be performed. So the next time you are considering questions, ensure you enlist a broad range of collaborators to ensure you can pursue the best scientific research possible. My friend and colleague Dr. Mahadeo Sukhai is the world’s first congenitally blind geneticist. He is proof that individuals who are differently abled can be successful in STEM.
