Waheeda Rehman, Indian actress speaks about her childhood. She says, "I was born in Madras (Now Chennai) and my father was a Municipal Commissioner. I was grown up as one of four daughters of him. From the beginning, I have an interest in singing and dancing so I started learning dance and I was learning Bharatnatyam as I was in South India. One day a friend of my father who was a producer of Telugu films asked my father's permission to cast me in his next film and my father denied by saying that she is just 13 or 14 years old kid and we didn't think this as a profession. After the death of my father, the same friend of my father asked my mother to cast me as a dancer but my mother hesitated and finally, she agreed. I first performed in a Telugu film 'Rojulu Marayi' and it was a big hit of that time. I also had my interest in studies as well but because of my father's transfer from one city to another I faced some hurdles in my education and when I started working in films I was 16 years old and after that, I had to leave my studies. 'CID' was my first Hindi film and after the release of 'Pyaasa,' my mother died. When I was 16 years old I used to be very reserved and shy in nature."
