The Rakiura Track is the most southerly of New Zealand's 10 Great Walks. This 32 kilometre circuitous track offers a glimpse into a prehistoric past, and is a fantastic option for beginner hikers, young families and those with a lower level of fitness, due to its comparatively easy grade throughout. One of the muddiest in the Great Walk network, some sections of the Rakiura Track can be rough going, so make sure to plan well and prepare yourself properly for all eventualities.
