Xavier Rudd - Part of Life (Official Music Video)
Directed and Animated by Jarrad Wright. @THEBIGLEZSHOWOFFICIAL “Like most of my songs, the lyrics kinda say it all, but with “Part of Life”, I guess the underlying message is a reminder that in a male dominated world, how important it is to remember to listen to our women. The front half of the song touches on the journey of life and the struggles we face, the lessons we learn. The back half then drifts into this retrospective bubble or dream cloud, with the sound of ancient whales and the wise words of the late Dr Jane Goodall as the figure of a strong feminine elder to sum it all up. I’ve always marvelled at the way things can flow when it comes to the mysterious happenings related to the spirit of music. For me the synergy around this song was strong. The events in my life, the song coming through me, Dr Jane’s final words before she died and then the final chapter of meeting the amazing and hilarious local animator, Jarrad Wright. I’d been watching some of his stuff and when I reached out to him about working on the video, he told me he’d just been watching a show featuring Jane Goodall and was pumped about the idea of this collaboration. To me this is more than a song, it’s an art collaboration and I’m super proud of it. I hope people can relate to it in their own ways.” – Xavier Rudd *Contains a sample of Dr. Jane Goodall as featured in the Netflix documentary Famous Last Words. Nobody knows But there’s just one more little thingI’d like to say before I go Take good care of the planet Treat it with respect It will be there for your family When you’re dead It’s a part of life, it’s a part of life… Dr Jane Goodall: “I want to make sure that you all understand That each and every one of you Has a role to play… And you are here for a reason I want you to know That whether or not you find that role you’re supposed to play Your life does matter And that every single day you live You make a difference We are part of the natural world And even today when the planet is dark There still is hope Don’t lose hope. I just hope that you understand That this life on planet Earth isn’t the end I believe, and now I know, that there is life beyond death That consciousness survives… I can’t tell you what you will find When you leave planet Earth… But I want you to know That your life on planet Earth Will make some difference In the kind of life that you find after you die We are part of Mother Nature We have to do everything in our power To make the world a better place For the children alive today And for those that will follow You have it in your power to make a difference Don’t give up Do your best While you’re still on this beautiful planet Earth”
