Pruning My Lemon Cypress, The Bonsai Zone, August 2025
I'm pruning my Lemon Cypress for the first time since it was grown from a cutting given to me by Bonsai J. The Lemon Cypress, also known as Cupressus macrocarpa 'Goldcrest', is a cultivar of Monterey Cypress. It's a small, columnar evergreen with bright yellow-green foliage and a distinctive lemon scent when brushed. While not native to Canada, it's commonly grown as an ornamental tree and houseplant.
