Today we visit Caesarea, one of the most impressive archaeological and coastal sites in Israel, located on the Mediterranean shore. Caesarea was founded by King Herod the Great in the 1st century BCE and named in honor of the Roman Emperor Augustus Caesar. It later became one of the most important cities in the Roman province of Judea, serving as a major administrative, political, and port center for nearly 600 years. One of the most iconic landmarks is the ancient Roman aqueduct, which once supplied fresh water to the city. Today, its ruins stretch along the coastline, offering a dramatic view of how advanced Roman engineering once shaped this region. In this video, we walk from the aqueduct area through the archaeological park and into the remains of the old Roman city — where stone streets, ruins, and the ancient harbor still reflect 2,000 years of layered history.
