Three topics you should understand by the end of this video are: 1. How alternating current from the stator is rectified into direct current to charge the battery. 2. How current from the stator is regulated to ensure that the voltage at the battery does not exceed about 16 volts. 3. How charge is prevented from leaking from the battery through the regulator rectifier. I will explain in a separate follow on video how to test that your regulator-rectifier works properly. I would suggest that you also watch my other video explaining how the stator and rotor work together to form the alternator which generates the current that flows through the regulator/rectifier.
