As you listen to this Raga Todi by Ustad Fariduddin Dagar (at that time 79 years old) and Pandit Uday Bhawalkar, beyond the wonderful music there are a few things that becomes clear--the Ocean of our music is boundless, we will always remain a student of this music, the guru-shishya parampara is a beautiful thing. Guru Shibir is one of the momentous moments that you realize only years after. Senior students of Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar and Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar and their students stayed in the Chinmaya Ashram in Kolwan for 2 days to learn from each other, listen to each other and interact informally with each other and forge the musical bonds of the Dagarvani tradition. Some members of this august gathering included Ustad Fariduddin Dagar, Pt Ritwik Sanyal, Pt. Pushpraj Koshti, Pt. Uday Bhawalkar, Ustad Bahauddin Dagar, Pt. Nirmalya Dey, Gundecha brothers amongst many others.
