MOVIE REVIEW: Kalushi with Thabo Rametsi

Solomon "Kalushi" Mahlangu, a young man who sacrificed his life in the 1970's for the freedom we enjoy today has been honoured with a film to tell his life story. Sadly, Mahlangu known as Kalushi, is one of many brave youngsters who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. He was executed on the 6th of April 1979 in the Pretoria Central Prison for his role of activism and after he was wrongfully found guilty of two counts of murder. The film "Kalushi" will be released on the 10th of March on the national cinema circuit and tells the story of Mahlangu being the voice of the voiceless youth during the apartheid regime. "Kalushi" has won the Rapid Lion Award at the 2016 Rapid Lion International Film Festival and was screened at the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF). It was also screened at the Cannes Marche film festival in 2016.
