Instead of digging through dirt or clay, crews must break solid rock to reach grade. Using hydraulic hammer attachments on excavators, the team works section by section — hammering, digging, cleaning the trench, and setting pipe safely at depths ranging from 9 to nearly 16 feet. This video shows: • Breaking limestone with hydraulic jackhammer attachments • Excavator rock removal and trench cleanup • Storm sewer installation followed by water main in the same trench • Hauling excess limestone off-site while reusing material where possible • Real-world heavy civil construction in extreme ground conditions Every section of pipe is set to grade, aligned, and secured before the crew moves forward — repeating the process until the entire run is complete. If you’re into heavy equipment, underground utilities, excavation, or real job site footage, this is what it takes to run pipe straight through solid rock. 📍 Location: Germania Park — Mankato, MN 🏗 Contractor: Holtmeier Construction 🛠 Scope: Storm sewer & water main installation 🪨 Conditions: Virgin limestone / solid rock excavation FOLLOW US: Instagram: / holtmeierconstruction Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?i...
