"Blue Skies" - A Jay Wade // Western Swing Jazz Music Duet // Central Hill Sessions

With the sun coming out and the skies clearing up after a long grey and rainy spring in London, we thought what better song to play than the old classic jazz and western swing number "Blue Skies" to continue our Central Hill Sessions series?! We have always loved the song, but rediscovered "Blue Skies" through the legendary Bob Dunn a while back. The song was composed in 1926 by Irving Berlin for the musical "Betsy" and was recorded by many greats - like Benny Goodman and his Orchestra, Count Basie, Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Danny Kaye, Ella Fitzgerald, Josephine Baker, Maxine Sullivan, Nat King Cole, Doris Day, Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone, Bob Wills and many more. It became a major western swing and country standard in 1939, when it was performed by Moon Mullican. Willie Nelson's recording was a #1 country music hit in 1978.
