Pynchon's Comedy of the Obscene and Destructive | Gravity's Rainbow

In this lecture, we'll use the idea of synchronicity in order to help understand one of the main mysteries of Gravity's Rainbow: how are the erections of Tyrone Slothrop related to the blasts of V2 rockets? We will look at a few passages in GR to locate some of the main themes, such as blending the high and low, using obscene/generally sexual passages to make social commentaries on social conventions/paradigms, and the infusion of paranoid sentiments to reflect the historical situation of WWII.
