PARMA capitale gastronomica d'Italia #ProntiPartenzaVia #discovery

This episode of "Ready, Set, Go" introduces PARMA, a provincial capital nestled in the Emilian plain. The city is a treasure trove of art, music, and gastronomy. Parma, like many other Italian cities, is linked to the name of a family that ruled it for a long time: the Farnese, creators of the palaces that still today are a distinctive feature of the city. The most impressive is the Palazzo della Pilotta, developed in various phases and left unfinished. It houses the National Gallery, the Palatina Library, the Bodoni Museum, and the stunning Teatro Farnese: a jewel of theatrical architecture entirely made of wood, it was one of the first covered theaters in Italy after the Olimpico in Vicenza and the Teatro in Sabbioneta. Destroyed and rebuilt after the Second World War, it remains a testament to one of the most beautiful examples of theatrical architecture in the world. In addition to boasting this jewel, the city also boasts the 19th-century Teatro Regio, one of the most important Italian opera houses. Parma is strongly connected to music, with events and festivals often linked to Giuseppe Verdi. The city boasts museums and spaces specifically designed for listening to music, from the House of Music to the auditoriums, the Opera Museum, and the House of Sound. But the city is also inextricably linked to its internationally renowned traditional gastronomic products, such as Parmigiano Reggiano and Parma ham. There are also plenty of places and corners where you can savor art: the Duomo, the baptistery with sculptures by Antelami, the Church of San Giovanni Evangelista, the ancient Benedictine apothecary, the Chamber of Saint Paul painted by Correggio, and the Basilica of Santa Maria della Steccata. A production by Fabrizio Vaghi and Paolo Vaghi; text, graphics, editing, and direction by Fabrizio Vaghi. A Vaghi per il mondo production. The episode is hosted by Fabrizio Vaghi and Paola Scorletti, with the participation of Annarita Ziveri (Superintendency of Historical, Artistic, and Ethno-anthropological Heritage of Parma and Piacenza) and Laura Maria Ferraris (Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Perugia).
