Tom Dooley

A traditional American murder ballad hailing from North Carolina, it tells the mythologized story of a real man named Tom Dula who was convicted of murdering his lover and hanged. To this day, it is debated whether Dula had actually committed the murder. The song was written by a local poet, Thomas C. Land, and later recorded by numerous artists, perhaps most notably the Kingston Trio (though I am still partial to Lonnie Donegan's version). Enjoy!
