Kata: Joko Sansei: performed by Ms. Elsa Lee of Houston Texas Honbu dojo

Asai karate: ASAI USA Headquarters dojo This is the third Joko kata and it has a very unique Enbusen. It is performed by Ms. Lee who is the daughter of Sensei Sean Lee, the country representative of ASAI USA. Her Kihon is excellent and the rhythm and timing of her kata are excellent. Congratulations to her and to Sensei Lee. Juno five kata are design to compliment to Heian kata. In other words, those kata contained many Shotokan techniques that are not included or somewhat ignored in Heian kata. On the other hand, Joko five kata are the entrance to Asai techniques. This means these kata contain the first level of Asai techniques. By learning these kata, a Shotokan practitioner gets to learn some of the key Asai karate techniques naturally. For this reason, all Shodan members must learn these ten kata. There are many more Asai techniques and you can find them in the additional 21 kata. They are designed for the higher rank Yudansha to learn more Asai techniques.
