Winnie Dunn; the country’s first Tongan-Australian published author | The Pacific | ABC News

Sydney suburb Mt Druitt has birthed sporting, musical and now, literary talent. Winnie Dunn’s debut novel ‘Dirt Poor Islanders’, is a coming-of-age story about a young girl’s culture clash as an Aussie-born Tongan growing up in Suburban Sydney. The release marks Winnie as the first Tongan-Australian author to publish a novel in the country - but she doesn’t want to be the only one. ‘The Pacific’ is hosted by Johnson Raela and Alice Lolohea. #ABCThePacific Watch The Pacific every Thursday night on ABC Australia or on ABC iView: https://iview.abc.net.au/show/pacific Watch more of ‘The Pacific’ content ad-free on ABC iview: https://iview.abc.net.au/show/pacific Like ABC Pacific on Facebook:   / abcpacific   Follow ABC Pacific on Instagram:   / abcpacific   For more from ABC Pacific news, click here: https://www.abc.net.au/pacific Subscribe: http://ab.co/1svxLVE Read more here: ABC News provides around the clock coverage of news events as they break in Australia and abroad.
