Sea Day | Gulf of St Lawrence River Cruising on HAL Volendam!

Welcome back to Mer Cruises Solo! Today is a sea day! Well, sort of - it's a sea day advertised as cruising through the St. Lawrence River, but I don't really see much land during the day. It's also Canada Day! The ship celebrated in several ways, including a beautiful cake and cupcake decorations that I happened to capture at the Lido Market. We also had to slow wayyyy down mid-morning and crawl along at a very slow speed because we were cruising through a whale breeding ground, so we chugged along at a glacier pace for most of the day while I enjoyed myself around the ship. Despite it being a sea day, there was a lot going on - but if you know me, it is a difficult task to tear me away from whatever book I'm currently reading :D The weather was absolutely beautiful so I started my day with a quick run in the gym, then decided to get brunch - something that not all cruise lines offer! I signed up for a wine tasting in the afternoon, which was a nice experience, and then lost track of time reading and enjoying the nice weather. Dinner was delicious as always, and I got to soak in an absolutely PERFECT sunset at the end of the day while finally experiencing the much loved Crow's Nest observation lounge, which I absolutely adored. Such a great spot on this little ship! And that wraps up my one and only sea day on this 7-day Canada & New England cruise from Montreal to Boston.
