100,000 Lbs. WWII Bunker Lifted after 45 years at Montauk Point Lighthouse
Before work can continue on the $30.7 Million erosion control project to protect the Montauk Point Lighthouse, the "Pill Box" had to be be lifted from where it has sat for 45 years. It dramatically tumbled from the cliff face above after being undermined by severe erosion. The Pill Box was estimated to weigh as much as 100,000 Lbs. The equipment they brought in was absolutely mind blowing!!
