JUAN GABRIEL Alberto Aguilera Valadez (Parácuaro, Michoacán; January 7, 1950 – Santa Monica, California; August 28, 2016), better known as Juan Gabriel, was a Mexican singer, songwriter, record producer, philanthropist, and actor. His contributions to Spanish-language popular music are notable in various genres, including ballads, rancheras, boleros, pop, norteña music, rumba flamenco, huapango, Chicano music, salsa, mariachi son, Sinaloa band, disco, big band, and even lullabies he wrote for each of his children. He was the mainstay of contemporary regional Mexican music in the last third of the 20th century until his death. He had sold more than 100 million records as a solo artist, music producer, and with the Spanish artist Rocío Dúrcal. His compositions have been translated into languages ​​as diverse as Turkish, German, French, Italian, Tagalog, Japanese, Greek, Papiamento, Portuguese, and English. He was also known for creating works aimed at providing development opportunities for disadvantaged children, not only in Mexico but also in other countries.
