Today in a double pack: Christopher and our newcomer Sebastian are testing various bolts for pistol crossbows for you - what works and what doesn't work with the various models? The premium aluminum bolts weigh approximately 108g and are being tested with the HORIZONE Red Back, X-BOW Alligator, and Cobra MX. You can also use the 6" carbon bolts on these pistol crossbows, which vary between 98g (standard) and 146g (deep penetration), depending on the model. The significantly longer 11" Supersonic bolts can be fired with the Alligator, Cobra MX, Supersonic, and Supersonic XL. Want something really aggressive? Then you can also use the slightly longer Supersonic Hunt hunting bolts, which weigh approximately 140g, on these models. However, the short 6.25" aluminum hunting bolts are only recommended for the Alligator and Cobra MX. On other crossbows, the blank-fire safety doesn't engage due to the incorrect size - the bolts are simply too short for these powerful machines. Because bolts that are too short would result in a blank shot despite the bolt being inserted - this is something to be avoided at all costs!
