Please note that this lecture may differ from the views of the National Academy of Korean Studies. Goguryeo was an empire of the Son of Heaven. This does not mean that it was a creation of Ilyeon or Yi Seung-hyu, but rather that ancient historical records state that both King Buru of Northern Buyeo and Jumong, the founder of Goguryeo, were sons of Dangun. In other words, it means that the royal family of Buyeo was of Dangun's bloodline, and the royal family of Goguryeo was also of Dangun's bloodline. Why did such descriptions appear? It is because both nations possessed the consciousness of having inherited the royal lineage of Gojoseon, that is, Dangun Joseon. The word 'Damul' in the Goguryeo language means the recovery of the old territory. It signifies the recovery of the land of Gojoseon that had been taken by China. As such, Goguryeo was a nation that possessed a historical consciousness of inheriting Gojoseon culture and recovering the ancient territory of Gojoseon. The descendants of Gojoseon founded Silla, and also founded Goguryeo. Baekje originated from Goguryeo. Therefore, it can be said that the Three Kingdoms are all descendants of Gojoseon and share the same ethnic homogeneity. The Stele of King Gwanggaeto, inscribed directly by the people of Goguryeo, was discovered in Ji'an County, China, in the 1880s, allowing us to directly encounter the worldview of the ancient Korean people. Additionally, the discovery of the Moduru Tomb Site, created around the same time as the Stele, has provided us with materials that allow us to understand the worldview of the Goguryeo people, albeit fragmentarily. This is because the Goguryeo people's thoughts on the world are clearly revealed in the Stele of King Gwanggaeto and the Moduru Tomb Site. Surprisingly, the Goguryeo people's worldview revealed in these two epigraphs was that they considered themselves the masters of the world. This was clearly different from the worldview of the *Samguk Sagi*, which regarded China as the center of the world and described tributary relations in detail. Indeed, how are Goguryeo's worldview and China's worldview similar, and how are they different?
