In this video, I'll show you how I built the roof sheathing and installed the membrane waterproofing. I'll show you how to do it myself, laying the roof sheathing for metal roofing, all the steps in detail. After covering the walls with OSB sheets on the outside, I began laying the roof sheathing. First, I prepared all the necessary building materials, moved the boards to the second floor, and cleaned them of any waste. Next, I laid out 40x50mm lumber, measured a distance 20 centimeters smaller than the membrane width, and cut them with a circular saw. I applied sealing tape to the lumber, which is used for gluing metal profiles. I began installing the fascia board. I screwed screws into the rafters to the width of the board, and then screwed two galvanized screws into each rafter. The next step was installing the drip cap, to which the Diffusion Hydro-Windproof Vapor-Permeable Membrane will be glued. I secured the drip cap with screws, first punching a hole with a hammer. I planeed the rafters flush with the fascia board. I applied special double-sided tape to the drip cap, which has excellent adhesion to membranes and various films. For an insulated roof on the cold side, a Diffusion Hydro-Windproof Vapor-Permeable Membrane must be used. I recommend carefully studying this issue, as using the right material in the ceiling and wall structure is very important. Installing the membrane turned out to be quite difficult. I unrolled the beginning of the roll and stapled it to the rafters in several places, glued one end to the drip cap, and nailed the counter battens in place using 120 mm nails. I spent a long time preparing for this step because it's a very important one, and I didn't want to screw it up. Next, I installed the sheathing, marking the locations on the counter batten, spacing the boards 200 mm apart, and nailed them with 120 mm nails so that the nails penetrated the counter batten and went into the rafters. At this point, I was tired of hammering nails! The entire roof required 20 kg of 120 mm nails, or about 1,700. I lifted all the necessary material to the top before covering everything with the membrane. I tightened the remaining membrane and continued nailing the counter batten and sheathing. The sheathing needs to be joined on different rafters. To make it safer to climb onto the roof, I left a small access hatch, and after I covered the finished section with roofing, I used a ladder to climb. I measured the diagonals on the sheathing, marked the overhang with a string, and cut it off with a circular saw. In the next episode, I'll show you how to install a gutter system.
