Teach your Dog the Backwards Orbit - great for competition obedience heeling!

The Backwards Orbit is an eye-catching trick where your dog circles you in reverse — and it’s much more than just flashy! It encourages your dog to move their body in new, unusual ways, helping build coordination & body awareness. Best of all, it keeps training fresh and mentally stimulating. In this video, I demonstrates how you can use a corner or an exercise pen to set your dog up for success right from the start. I also add the orbit into my heeling as a fun unexpected trick. I will do this sometimes when heeling, I just pause, ask for the orbit which excites my dog and then continue heeling, it gives him a burst of energy. There are times when I set my dog up to go heeling, and while he is sitting at my side, instead of going forward I will ask for an orbit much to his surprise. I have him finish the orbit once he gets back into heel position and sits. I can either reinforce that or go heeling.
