Speaking on Eyewitness News, spokesperson for President Ramaphosa, Vincent Magwenya, dismissed reports suggesting that Ghana declined the engagement, describing them as inaccurate. He explained that the planned visit was linked to the Ghana-South Africa Binational Commission (BNC), a regular platform for strengthening cooperation between the two countries, and was not a request for a state visit. The clarification follows reports that the postponement was connected to concerns over the death of a Ghanaian national, Bashiru Isak, and renewed xenophobic attacks targeting foreign nationals in South Africa. Both countries are expected to agree on a new date for the BNC meeting and related engagements aimed at deepening bilateral relations.
