RKM wz. 28 Polski BAR którego nie znasz

The Polish BAR You Don't Know – The History of the Model 1928 Light Machine Gun The Model 1928 light machine gun, often simply referred to as the Model 28, was one of the most important support weapons of the Polish Army during the interwar period and the September Campaign of 1939. Although derived from an American design by John Browning, the Polish version differed from its original design much more than most people realize. In this article, I present the history of the BAR rifle, its development after World War I, its Belgian modifications, and the path that led to its adoption by the Polish Army as the Model 1928 light machine gun. I also discuss the competitions for the new light machine gun, the launch of production at the State Rifle Factory, licensing issues, and the equipment of Polish units just before the outbreak of World War II. You'll learn, among other things: • why the Polish Army chose the Browning design, • how the Polish Model 1928 light machine gun differed from the American BAR, • what its production process was like in Poland, • how many units were delivered to the Polish Army, • what role it played during the September Campaign and in the underground resistance.
