Everlane Sold to Shein. Is Ethical Fashion a Myth?

Everlane sold to Shein. Yes, really. Which makes me wonder can ethical and sustainable fashion actually work at scale? Everlane was one of the first “ethical fashion” brands many of us trusted. Radical transparency, better basics, fewer markups, and a promise that shopping could be a little more thoughtful. So what does it mean when a brand built on transparency is acquired by Shein, one of the biggest symbols of ultra-fast fashion? In this video, I’m talking about Everlane, Shein, Allbirds, Reformation, greenwashing, private equity, sustainable fashion, and the uncomfortable question underneath all of it: is ethical fashion actually a myth? I also share my personal history with Everlane, what I saw working with the brand, and how this feels different now that I’m building my own sustainable brand. Because maybe the issue isn’t just Everlane. Maybe the issue is expecting sustainable brands to survive in the same system that rewards speed, scale, and endless consumption.
